He 'wheely' went for it

Petrus will soon be coming to the last leg of our ‘Walk a Mile, Change a Life’ campaign but there’s still plenty of time to get involved!

Our Petrus Hub Service Manager Edmund has recently taken on the mile challenge for the second time.

Edmund said: “Back in June, I first took part by doing a walk around Rochdale, which led to me recreating The Beatles’ famous ‘Abbey Road’ photo with my colleagues.

“This time, I cranked up the difficulty level by cycling a VERTICAL mile (5,280ft or 1,609 metres).

“I luckily chose a nice sunny day, setting off to ride up and down a hill near my home. I then rode a circuit passing ‘The Singing Ringing Tree’ near Burnley, travelling through the lovely town of Rawtenstall.

“I finished by riding back down and up Bacup Road in Todmorden for my last climb, before being met by my family at the top.

“By that point, they were certainly a sight for sore eyes… and sore legs too!

“It took 3 hours and 45 minutes as well as 46 miles to achieve an ascent of 1,631 metres.

“The beauty of the ‘Walk a Mile, Change a Life’ challenge is that you can tackle it however way you wish. From completing one mile to 46 miles like me, or choosing to run it or even hop – it’s up to you!”

Our ‘Walk a Mile, Change a Life’ challenge is raising funds to help us to continue supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community experiencing homelessness or in housing need.

It only takes three simple steps to take part:
1. Complete a mile e.g. by walking, cycling, however you prefer!
2. Donate to Petrus over on our Virgin Money Giving page at https://tinyurl.com/petruscommunity or send a cheque payable to Petrus Community to our Head Office.
3. Tell us you’ve joined in by tagging us on our Twitter or Facebook and share why you walked for Petrus!
