Help us to support some of the most vulnerable people in the community just by taking a few simple steps.
Join our one mile walking challenge today and together we will end homelessness.

Due to the current restrictions in the UK, many fundraising events that support charities such as ourselves have been postponed. As we’re asked to stay safe and keep distance as best we can to protect one another, many of us will be limiting what activities we do. We’re inviting you to take part in our one mile challenge!

Only three simple steps: Walk a mile, donate, share.

It only takes three steps to complete the challenge:

1. Go for a mile walk, run, skip, hop or jog etc (whatever you prefer!)

Walking has many great physical, mental health and wellbeing benefits, and now it can help others too! A mile walk only takes on average 15 to 20 minutes to do.

2. Donate to Petrus

Donate online over on our Virgin Money Giving page here or send a cheque payable to Petrus Community to our Head Office.

3. Let us know you've taken part!

Tag us on our Twitter or Facebook and share why you walked for Petrus! Feel free to send us any photos and videos of you taking on the challenge.

A £5 donation covers the cost of 2 people showering at our Hub as well as washing and drying their clothes, £10 pays for a toiletry pack including shampoo, toothbrush, soap, flannel, sanitary pads etc. £50 equates to supporting two new tenants to pay for kitchen and household equipment. £100 enables us to provide 100 breakfasts for vulnerable people in our community.

How going that extra mile supports Petrus

Donations made to Petrus help us to provide accommodation and support to people facing homelessness or in housing need.

Right now, we're continuing to deliver a takeaway breakfast service every weekday for people in the community at our Petrus Hub, and preparing food for residents in our housing projects. Donations support us to fund these free meals as well as clothing and toiletries.

Our team are offering support and advice over the phone around accessing housing, helping with benefits and utilities, and regularly contacting our service users to check for support needs and help with mental wellbeing. Our free shower and laundry facilities are also still available by appointment. Any donations we receive enable us to support people to have access to these services.

We’re seeing a rise in supporting people who we've previously not had contact with and have experienced 'hidden homelessness' as the current situation has led to their temporary accommodation becoming unstable (e.g. had been staying with friends). Your donation helps us to support those reaching out to us.

Encourage others to take on the challenge!

Go that one step further and nominate others!

Encourage your friends, family, colleagues, those around you or maybe even your favourite celebrity to get involved by nominating them to take on the challenge!

Send them the link to this page so they can find out more!

Steps to take to stay safe!
