Project 5 already leading to great outcomes for our service users

We’re weeks away from launching our new training programme Project 5 and already it’s leading to some incredible outcomes for our service users!

Recently Marvin did an amazing job of joining our interview panel as we recruited for our Project 5 Employability Coach.

Sharing his unique insight and expertise as someone with lived experienced of homelessness, he worked alongside our Learning and Support Worker Tracy to create a ‘Values’ led question that encouraged candidates to be creative and flexible in their approach.

At Petrus we feel it is important that our service users play a vital role in shaping the services we provide.

As a signed-up member of the first cohort of participants for Project 5, Marvin’s help in finding the most suitable person for the role was invaluable and we’re delighted he was pleased to be involved.

It was wonderful to see how confidently Marvin engaged with the interviewees and provided great feedback.

Talking about his experience and about Project 5, Marvin said:

“I was asked to put a few words together about my experience and I wanted to encourage anyone caught in two minds about participating in the upcoming opportunity of Project 5.

“I was initially sceptical about if this programme would be truly original and not simply a repeat of former courses I have attended, however, assisting with the interviews and learning about the hiring process reassured me.

“I found it informative as well as enjoyable and character building and I was impressed by the passion of the interviewees, whose focus is on helping us!  Project 5 will consider individual needs; I found this a refreshing approach and I am looking forward to starting my personal journey.”

We are delighted to share that we have appointed an experienced and enthusiastic Employability Coach who is joining our team this August thanks to Marvin’s support.

We are also currently recruiting to enhance the support offered to Project 5 participants through a Trainee Peer Support Worker position. This is an exciting and unique role which will support the successful candidate to develop skills and experience in support work. They will bring expertise by lived experience to the team and provide peer support to the cohort over their six-month journey.

Project 5 is delivered in partnership with The Learning Foundry and is a free training programme for people who have faced homelessness or inequality to develop the skills and confidence they want to achieve their goals. To find out more about our Project 5 offer, visit www.petrus.org.uk/project5
