We want to say a massive thank you to RiverWood Ltd for donating beautiful handcrafted benches to our community garden PIER.
RiverWood Ltd is a family-run garden furniture company based in Leeds, consisting of Kevin Charlesworth and 16-year-old son Jake.
They only started trading in June this year and we’re so grateful for their kindness in supporting charities such as ourselves so early into their business life.
Our Engagement and Development Worker Rina had spotted an advert for RiverWood Ltd’s products and got in touch to say how lovely they were. When doing so, she also took the opportunity to ask if they would like to donate to charity.
Rina received a reply almost immediately from Jake, who said they’d be delighted to donate not just one bench but two!
As Jake and Kevin found out more about PIER and the work we do to support individuals in the community, they offered to travel from Leeds to Rochdale to not only deliver the benches but assemble them as well.
The benches are a wonderful addition to our garden and will be used by many visitors at PIER for years to come.
Our volunteers were very excited to receive the two and three seater benches and have been working to create a new section of the garden with the purpose of showcasing them.
We’re so pleased Jake and Kevin had the chance to meet our volunteers, and see PIER for themselves and where their benches will be installed once the garden for them is complete.
Rina said: “Little did I know when I reached out to them that they were a recently established company. In my view, this in itself reflects their kindness in even considering giving something away.”
Jake, Director of RiverWood Ltd, said: “It was a pleasure working with Petrus on this. It’s always within our best interests to help others that are in need.”
We can’t wait for the moment when we reopen the gates to the community so they can come sit and enjoy the outdoors with us.
