HART nurses vaccinate 57 homeless individuals at Petrus Hub

Petrus and Rochdale Health Alliance’s HART outreach nurses have been working together to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to homeless and other vulnerable individuals in our borough.

Over the past three weeks, they have vaccinated 57 people at our Hub including rough sleepers and residents from our supported housing projects who might otherwise have not been able to access the vaccination.

Service users were supported to register or arrange a temporary registration with a Rochdale GP ahead of receiving their vaccination, and many will now be able to continue to access health advice and support as a result.

This is a great service for an often neglected and hard to reach group and we’re proud to enable this crucial service to be delivered at our Hub.

One of our service users said: “It’s really good, I didn’t think they’d think of us. It was quick and didn’t hurt.”

HART outreach nurses deliver COVID-19 vaccination

We feel it is important that people experiencing homelessness can access a variety of essential support and services in one given space. Last year, we were pleased to welcome the HART outreach nurses to deliver weekly on-site primary health care services for individuals using our Hub on Great George Street.

For the time being these drop-in appointments are temporarily paused as the nurses have been redeployed to continue delivering vaccinations to people in Rochdale. We look forward to their return to resume this health service. Please keep an eye on our social media to find out when they're back.
