Awarded for Diversity in Health & Social Care

Rochdale Diversity Awards recognised Petrus with their Diversity in Health & Social Care Award for our continued effort in supporting under-represented groups across support services through socially prescribed activities.

In response to the pandemic, we began a collaborative project aiming to address barriers to accessing and delivering socially prescribed activities. The results shaped a prototype model of social prescribing to support people, particularly those from under-represented communities and or those impacted by multiple levels of deprivation.

Rochdale’s Diversity Awards rewarded Petrus’s social prescribing programme for our dedicated youth-focused project at Hopwood Hall College.

Over the last 18 months we’ve created an inspiring programme of activities aiming to bring organisations together with the purpose of co-delivering an accessible social prescribing model to many who would not typically access these kinds of activities. Activities have included gardening, walking, fishing, arts and crafts, wellbeing coaching, finance and advice services and even outdoor circus skills.

Petrus’s partnerships with KYP, Action Together, Your Trust, RMBC Public Health, Canalside PCN and Pennine Care amongst many others demonstrates our collaborative approach to supporting under-represented groups in having an equal voice in shaping access to socially prescribed activity. Petrus and partners are attempting to overcome systemic, cultural and individual barriers faced by individuals accessing services and those faced by organisations that deliver these projects – and we are so pleased that our efforts have been recognised!

Rachael Bennion, Petrus Service Manager, said:

“We are delighted to receive recognition for the work of our team and would like to thank all of our partners who’s dedication to supporting people in our communities collaboratively, has enabled greater opportunities for people across our diverse community to be empowered in accessing non-medical health interventions.”

We would like to say a particular thank you to Health And Social Care Partnership GM Nature For Health and Public Health at Rochdale Council for their continued support. Without your help, such a key part of our service offer would not be possible.
