A year on and our PIER volunteers still have “Tatton Fever”

Our volunteers at PIER absolutely loved taking part in the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park last summer. Watch as they reflect on their experience a year on.

Rina, our new Engagement and Development Worker, joined the team at our community garden PIER a few months ago.

But from the moment she set foot on the allotment, our volunteers have often shared their experiences of winning the Silver Medal and People's Choice Award at the 2019 Royal Horticulture Society (RHS) Flower Show Tatton Park last year.

She explains how it’s like they have “Tatton Fever!”

“There is not an hour, let alone a day, when our volunteers do not talk about being at Tatton Park last year!

If anyone walks past the allotment and stops to say hello or ask about what we do, our volunteers appear, as if by magic. No matter who it is, they can’t wait to tell them about their Tatton Park show garden and the awards they won.

The sense of achievement, positivity and lasting effect on our volunteers is incredible and utterly priceless. Some people may view the whole experience as a lot of hard graft over two weeks of very long days in all kinds of weather, but our volunteers clearly don’t see it that way. They enjoyed every single minute of it and are eager to do it all again hopefully next year!”
