The Petrus Community has been providing supported housing and related services to homeless people since 1972.

Petrus Women's Service (Hub)

The Petrus Hub runs a women-only service on Mondays and Thursdays. It provides counselling services, advice including debt, housing, medical, substance misuse and signposting to specialist agencies including Probation, Pathways, CRC, RBH etc.

Services provided at both the Hub and our accommodation projects include:

  • support to BAME women fleeing forced marriage, honour-based violence, forced genital mutilation or cultural and religious expectations
  • work with street workers to safeguard women
  • holistic work with female offenders and those at risk
  • support for victims of child sexual exploitation, including helping to prepare court cases, giving evidence in serious case reviews and working with the Sunrise Team
  • tailor-made training for residents, based on the Womenís Aid and Freedom programmes

Petrus Hub also operates a menís group which has included work with men who are perpetrators of violent and abusive behaviour, with input from external agencies including the Probation Service.

Through GMWSA we can access and engage with women through staff in Styal prison and partnership engagement workers operating across Manchester and we operate a triage service with Manchester Police serving to divert women from custody.
