Community seed swap

Community seed swap

Do you want new seeds, but not the price tag?

Do you have unwanted seeds lying around?

We would like to invite you to a seed swapping event, where you can swap your surplus seeds with other sowers for free.

No needs to swap? No problem. Simply give a donation for the seeds instead - all donations will go towards the cost of the event.

Petrus Incredible Edible Rochdale Project (PIER) will be hosting their first seed sharing event at their community allotment and garden on Belfield Road.

The idea behind the event is to help individuals, groups, schools and organisations to get together and share resources in order to get Rochdale growing.

This year is a particularly exciting year for Rochdale as it has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Royal Horticultural Societies Britain In Bloom Competition.

PIER are looking forward to the coming year and would love to help people across the borough get behind Rochdale and support the countless volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to help make Rochdale a more beautiful place to live.

We hope that the seed sharing event will provide the opportunity to allow anybody to get involved whether itís in their own garden or accessing information about volunteering in the community, bringing likeminded people together.

Many people have unwanted seeds stashed away in cupboards that could be used by others and we would like to encourage people to bring them along to swap for other seeds that they may need. For those who have no seeds to swap they will still be able to join in. Simply Ďpay as you feelí by making a small donation.

We are also encouraging people to bring any spare plants that they could share and for growing groups to come along and promote their upcoming activities across the borough.

Tuesday 20 March from 1pm to 3pm

At Petrus Incredible Edibles (PIER) Medical Allotment, Belfield Road, Rochdale, OL16 2UP. (Next door to the Croft Shifa Health Centre)
