The Petrus Community has been providing supported housing and related services to homeless people since 1972.

Let's Talk Counselling Service

The Let's Talk Counselling Service is an exciting new Petrus Project. We were recently successful in securing CCG funding along with five other partners notably Rochdale Connections Trust, Recovery Republic, Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association, CommuniTea and LGBT Youth North West. Together we all form a Consortium with the Gaddum Centre acting as the lead.

As well as establishing new and effective partnership working most importantly we are able to provide a much needed counselling service to our service users. It is hoped that the service will improve their psychological well being, through specialised counselling interventions enabling individuals to better manage their lives in the future.

Four trained Diploma Counselling students will be appointed via the Gaddum Centre and they will deliver counselling throughout Petrus's projects and the HUB. In addition, Petrus staff and volunteers will also have the opportunity to complete Level 2 Counselling Skills building their confidence and skills.

The service is now up and running and a referral pathway and criteria is in place. Referrals can be made via Petrus's shared drive (Let's Talk Counselling) or via the Let's Talk website.

For further information about this Project please contact Kathryn Linaker, Counselling Link Worker, on 01706 351657 or via email.

Counselling is a type of talking therapy that allows a person to talk about their problems and feelings in a confidential and dependable environment - see www.nhs.uk/conditions/Counselling/Pages/Introduction.aspx.
